Events

Start Smart Sports
This beginner sports program is specifically geared towards children ages three to five. The program teaches basic sports skills and gives young children a head start on an active lifestyle. Please call the Recreation Department at (727) 363-9245 for additional information.

Before School Gym Games program
A morning program of gym games from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. during the 2008-2009 school year is being offered at the St. Pete Beach Community Center. Transportation is provided to and from Gulf Beaches and St. Johns Elementary and drop-offs are always welcome. The new morning program is $10 per week with a card and $15 per week without. Reserve your spot—the programs begin August 19. Please call the Recreation Department at 363-9245 for additional information.

Tutoring and Sport Technique Program
The St. Pete Beach Community Center announces the return of its Tutoring and Sport Technique program which offers youth in grades first through fifth an after-school program that combines homework help with socializing and active play. The program runs each school day with tutoring from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sport Technique from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The 2008-2009 school year is the first to also offer a morning program of gym games from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Transportation is provided to and from Gulf Beaches and St. Johns Elementary and drop-offs are always welcome. Tutoring and Sport Technique is $40 per week with card and $50 per week without a card with the option to choose one session only. The new morning program is $10 per week with a card and $15 per week without. Registration begins at the Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, on August 1 for cardholders and August 6 for everyone else. Programs begin August 19. USCG Safe Boating Classes
Classes include “Handling Your Boat” on Oct. 7 and “Your Highway Signs” on Oct. 14. Cost is $36 for 13 weeks and includes a new 400-page manual. Call Jim at (727) 360-4846, Warren at (727) 321-7801 or Phil at (727) 865-2226 for more information.

USCG Safe Boating Classes
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 78 is offering a 13-week continuous cycle of Safe Boating Classes every Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at Warren Webster Community Center, 1500 Pass-a-Grille Way, St. Pete Beach (one mile south of the Don CeSar). Start at your convenience. First class, arrive at 7 p.m. to register. Begin any Tuesday and finish 13 weeks later or take up to two years to finish. Call Jim at at (727) 360-4846,
